Something About Relationships

When most people hear the word relationship they immediately think of their significant other who they hope to spend happily ever after. Why wouldn’t you? If whenever you search for relationship advice your screen is flooded by results on being a better partner or compatibility.

You have all types of relationships though, throughout your life matter in fact. You have some with family, others with strangers who become friends, and one with a maker for those of us who believe. I was not going to mention it but, yes, there is that relationship you have with your pets. Relationships are amazing because they pay back exponentially as you get older. They open doors to opportunities and show you the world in a whole different filter. They give you some sort of purpose and sometimes if not most they are the safety net you desperately need and know you can rely on.

Just one caveat, they are living. And like all living things they require a bucket load of care, attention, and time. One could compare them to a tree. In the beginning, that is they need extra care, attention, and time before their roots are set. After that, you still do more of the same luckily not as much is needed. When they are all grown with their roots deep and firmly planted they start to produce fruit. And take care of you. But the opposite happens when those essentials aren’t provided.

The relationships we rear and keep are the backbones of a rich and meaningful life.

Sounds artificial but I would suggest you give it a try to find out.

I hope I didn’t botch this last part. In summary, relationships are great but they also need your active input to make them work.
