You are not what you do or have done
Seriously, you aren’t. Because deep down you are more than that and you know it probably. Maybe. Sometimes. Once in a while? Whatever the case your actions shouldn’t be you judge your character on. Why? Well because you make mistakes, you find and redefine yourself your entire life. You change your mind a lot of the time. And most importantly you are living.
We tend to get attached a lot to our mistakes and misbehaving. You lash out once and you immediately think you got anger issues. You fail at one sport and think you are paralytic. You are bad at finding the deflection of a beam, in a three-story building. You immediately lose your mind. Those are things you do but they should not define you. And we shouldn’t define other people by them.
Our brains are lazy, they would rather shove everything under the bed than take the time to put things in order. So the brain doesn’t want to take the time to get to know someone so it decides to arrange everyone according to how what they do. He has tattoos and rides a motorcycle definitely bad. She is crying in public in the grocery store, she must be weak. It can go on.
It takes considerable effort to separate what they do from who they are. But we all deserve a chance. Because everyone has had a time where they are not proud of things they did but at least, for some, they weren’t labeled. And the action didn’t define them the rest of their lives.
